This post was written for all human beings. It was motivated by the thought that we as people, might be at risk of forgetting how amazing we truly are.
You’re More Capable than You Think
I sometimes wonder if Marvel Movies are doing well at the Box Office, because they offer opportunity to connect with the great potential we as humans once had, and most importantly, a real capacity we once believed in. We “marvel” at the screen and unconsciously connect to our own awesomeness, through a story that we somewhere along the way, stopped believing about ourselves. It might sound strange, but you are more capable than you believe.
You are not living up to your potential; not even close! Did you know that almost everything in your life and work can be better? Do you realize that your relationships can be better, like way better! Most of the stress, conflict and problems in your immediate world are unnecessary and avoidable. Did you know that you can do things and go places that might seem possible, only in dreams?
Sales, The Over-Promise, Disappointment and The Loss of Faith
Did the above segment seem like the beginning of a promise? Maybe leading up to an offer? It is unfortunate that most people reading the above, may have experienced slight “disbelief” creeping in; a type of “what’s he trying to sell? Or, “Here we go again, what’s this really about?” Some people stopped altogether or, considered not reading any further; believing that they’ve “heard it all” or “seen it all” before.
Unfortunately, we’ve all been “sold” on something that didn’t work as well as we were told; some of us have been perpetually over-promised and under-delivered. Many of us have been hurt or disappointed in personal or professional relationships, by people that we trusted. Regrettably and with great concern, I have noticed this type of “disbelief”, a malaise, increasing almost exponentially at work and in life. This phenomenon is leading towards an amplified sense of helplessness and hopelessness; in epic proportions. More and more, people are having difficulty trusting one another. More and more we are losing faith in people; in each another and; some of us are beginning to lose faith in ourselves.
Faith and the Rock-Climber
Imagine for a moment that a seasoned rock-climber suddenly lost faith in his gear. What do you think would happen? At first, he would probably hesitate. Maybe even stop and come down from the mountain. He might try again; however, the longer he stops, the harder it is to start climbing again. If he stops long enough, he may forget how to climb altogether.
We can’t forget how to climb!
The Most Important Step
My good friend, Dr. Kate Stone once told me that we mistakenly celebrate the accomplishment, achievement or end of the journey. We give the medal or trophy at the wrong time, for the wrong thing. She says, “We should celebrate the most important step in that journey. It’s not the first and it’s not the last. It’s the one we take after we’ve almost given up. That step is by far, the most difficult one.”
Don’t Give Up
If you are losing faith in others or in yourself. Don’t give up.
Connect with the things that brought you to what’s most important.
Re-connect with the things and the people that brought you to it, and/or have kept you in it for so long. Know that this step might be the hardest; which means that things will get better from there.
You are amazing. You have so much potential. You are destined to do great things.
We at the CORE Leader want you to know, we are here to help. We work to under-promise and over-deliver on good-to-miraculous experiences with exceptional value and meaning.
